Schools and business's are closed due to a very rare occurrence in central Texas - snow. 3 days of extreme cold weather ends with a flurry - an overnight one inch flurry of snow blanketed the ground.

At sunup the snow was a light blanket on everything.

Connie and I couldn't resist going outside and walking around the neighborhood.

There is a sheet of ice beneath the snow, making driving treacherous. As can be seen in this picture only a very few people have been driving today. Austin has seen 100s of wrecks in the past 12 hours.

Snow on cactus - sounds like an oxymoron, doesn't it.

Our neighbor's palmetto plant really caught a lot of snow.

Hank loved the snow and was running all over the place. I couldn't get him to hold still long enough for a picture.

"Hey, sweetie, how about jumping on the snow covered trampoline for me. I'm sure it's completely safe."

By 10 a.m. the morning clouds were gone, the sun was out, and the sky was a beautiful blue. It's still quite cold though.

By 11 a.m. the road had a few more car tracks and there were places where the snow and ice had melted.
